Gurbrinder Aulakh Barrsiter & Solicitor / Consultant Gurbrinder Aulakh has more than 20 years of combined overseas & NZ experience in the field of law. A lawyer at a High Court in India, he was also the executive committee member of the High Court Bar and on the panel of some of the prestigious boards, authorities and corporations. Having studied & re-qualified in New Zealand and admitted as Barrister & Solicitor at the High Court in Auckland, he worked at law firms in North shore and Auckland, before joining George with a focus on litigation, and then going on his own account and setting up his practice. He has successfully represented in litigation matters at the High Court, District Court, and Tribunals and appeared before the Court of Appeal. He has also advised the Indian High Commission to New Zealand, on legal matters. He is on the committee of the Auckland District law Society. Apart from English, he is fluent in Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu languages. John Burns Barrister & Solicitor / Consultant John has more than 40 years of New Zealand experience in law. Admitted in 1970, he practiced in all areas of law before specialising in Resource Management and Local Government law. He has been a consultant and partner in several law firms (most recently Burns Fraser ) Until Council amalgamation in 2010, he was the main lawyer acting for the Auckland Regional Council Unitary Plan, and currently acts for both the Auckland Council and for the Northland Regional Council. He has appeared before the High Court and Court of Appeal and regularly before the Environment Court .
John Burns is a former member of the NZ Law Society's Environmental Law Committee, and is currently a member of the Auckland District Law Society's Resource Management and Environment Committee (of which he was Convenor from 2013-2016) and was a founder member of the Resource Management Law Association. COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS Gurbrinder Aulakh is the elected Chair of the National Board of ELPNZ, that works with the refugees and migrants from 150 different ethnicities, at 23 locations across the country. Earlier he served as the Deputy-Chair of Auckland Regional Migrant Services for over five years. He is also the Honorary Advisor and on the board of many social and community organisations. At times he has been on ethnic media discussing community and legal issues. He presented a paper at the International Conference held a few years back at Massey University.
